CHAMPIONSHIPS UPDATE

Converting the Planned 2021 World’s at Noroton into a North Americans

The original plan was to hold a two-day International Women’s Championship, a two-day North American Championship, and a four-day World Championship this coming October at Noroton and Stamford Yacht Clubs in Connecticut. Because it appears likely that COVID restrictions will prevent our Australian and European contingents from getting to Connecticut, we are making the women’s event the North American Women’s Championship and turning the four-day Worlds event into the North American’s.

So, the schedule now looks like this:

The Yacht Scoring sites have been updated to reflect these changes. If you were previously registered for the World’s, you have been moved over to the new North American’s.

If you haven’t yet, the link to the North Americans registration site is HERE

If you haven’t yet, the link to the Women’s North Americans registration site is HERE.

There are currently 35 boats registered, and we expect over 50 boats come October. Remember that trailer spots are being awarded by order of registration. Hurry up and register if you want a good spot.

NEXT WORLDS

We are finalizing plans for the next World’s, tentatively in March of 2023 in the southern US.  More details to come as soon as we get confirmations.

NORTH AMERICANS FUTURE SCHEDULE

Beyond this year, what is the schedule for North American’s going forward? How often will they be held? Where will they be?

The North American Executive Committee has committed to holding North American Championships yearly, rotating around the four regions. This year, 2021, is East (Noroton). Next year, 2022, is Gulf (Gulfport). Then, 2023 will be Great Lakes (we are close to a confirmation on the Club that will be hosting – to be announced shortly). The 2024 NAs will be West and 2025 will be back East. We plan to announce locations and dates for 2024 and 2025 no later than at the North American’s at Noroton in October. Here’s a grid depicting this schedule:
