Rondar Raceboats was appointed the class builder for the Viper 640 in late 2005. The partnership between Rondar and the Viper 640 Class Association is strong and second to none. Rondar has been in business making racing sailboats continuously since 1965, and Paul Young has been President of Rondar since 1991.

Rondar has earned a reputation as a pre-eminent builder of fast one-design race boats. Rondar-built boats have won world championships in numerous classes including the Contender, the 420, the Fireball, the Enterprise and, most notably, the highly competitive 5o5 class. Seventeen out of the last twenty-one 505 world championships have been won in a Rondar hull.

Rondar’s team of engineers, riggers, and craftsmen have prepared boats for Olympic medalists as well as local club champions. Their reputation for quality and technical expertise is well deserved and the Viper Class is pleased with Rondar’s work as our sole builder.

Rondar’s main production site is near Devizes in Wiltshire, UK, where they produce around 250 boats each year. Rondar also have an engineering facility where they build road trailers for the Viper using galvanized steel, sealed bearing wheels, and molded cradles. (Parts Website)
