April 12-15, 2018
For many years., Charleston Race Week was a mainstay in the east coast Viper spring schedule. Boats could be dropped off on the way north from Miami, creating a major convenience. The sailing was challenging, competitive, and the CRW shore-side parties are legendary. Seven Vipers are already registered indicating that many of you have yet to pull the trigger on CRW. Now’s the time and here’s why:
Tom Loutrel (left), our Charleston Viper sparkplug, and other local Viper sailors have overcome some of the issues that have worked against participation in recent years. Here’s what Tom has lined-up to make this CRW a “must sail” for Viper sailors:
Docking at College of Charleston for only $50! Talk about the deal of the century. This is a fraction of the $250 per boat paid the marina a few years back. This fee can be paid via PayPal below separate from your event registration.
- Convenient launching – Long lines and crowded ramps and hoists have been a major downside of past CRWs. This year, thanks to Viper owner Sarah Schaill and Jon Calarusso, co-owners of Viper #188, Vipers can use the ramp at Hobcaw Yacht Club, store their trailers there during the event, and transit to/from CofC with the assistance of two center consoles if needed. See more on Hobcaw YC’s offering HERE. Thanks, Sarah and Jon!
- Viper sailor housing: Tom reports that he can find housing for few folks on an as needed basis. First come, first served. If you’re interested, contact Tom ASAP by clicking HERE. firstname.lastname@example.org
- Post-Florida boat storage: Tom can make arrangements to store your Viper post-Sarasota at no cost. If you’re interested in leaving your Viper in Charleston in March and returning to it in April for CRW, shoot Tom an email by clicking HERE. email@example.com
2018 is the year to for the sailing world to know that CRW is a Viper Regatta!
