Viper 640 Snake Bytes - Jan 13, 2021 - AGMs and Class Elections - Viper 640 International Class Association

 Snake Bytes
January 13, 2021

In today’s Snake Bytes:

This special edition of Snake Bytes is to update you on a number of important issues regarding the Viper 640 Class:

  • International and North American Annual General Meetings
  • Class officer elections and online ballot
  • Sarasota Viper Regatta update
  • Bacardi Miami Regatta changes
  • Class dues reminder

Traditionally, the Class holds its AGMs together at the Worlds or the NAs. Because the 2020 NAs were scrubbed, these meetings have been moved to January 23, 2021. Also, so people in different parts of the world can participate, separate International and North American AGMs are scheduled as Zoom calls that day. Obviously, North American owners should attend the NA AGM, but all owners from around the globe are invited to participate in the International AGM.

An information packet for each meeting will be forthcoming, but please put the following Zoom meeting information on your calendar so you can participate. Also, please send any questions you have that you would like to have answered to Steve Chapman.

NOTE: you are asked to pre-register for each meeting you plan to attend. See Zoom details below:

The Viper and VX One fleets for the 2021 Bacardi Invitational Regatta have been cancelled. The clubs that were to host our two fleets in March remain closed due to the pandemic and no alternative venues for hosting the classes were available. The Class expressed our thanks to the folks at Bacardi and thanked them for their consideration. It was mentioned to us, however, that we will be invited back for the 2022 Bacardi Miami Invitational.

The three-weekend Sarasota Viper Series has now been reduced to two weekends. This coming weekend, there were only two Viper registered, so the Viper division of SSS #1 was scrubbed. That said, Travis Yates and his team is still looking for a good turnout for the Feb. 13-14 and March 19-21 weekends.

In discussing the situation with Travis, he reports that, “While Florida may be the Covid Wild West, Sarasota isn’t! The Squadron is within the City limits so is adhering strictly to the mask/social distancing protocols. Last weekend’s M-15 regatta observed these rules, had after-sailing beers in cans rather than a keg, and there was no dinner scheduled. Groups of sailors have been able to rent large houses close to the club on Airbnb for next to nothing; so they have done meals there after sailing.

With Miami off the schedule for this year, shift your plans to Sarasota. It will be safely managed regattas with good weather. If you can only do one, Travis is suggesting the three-days in March.

Register HERE. And, DO register so Travis can plan appropriately.

By tomorrow, you should have received an invoice for your 2021 Class Dues. If you didn’t receive your invoice or and want to pay now so you can vote, click HERE, sign into your profile, and follow the prompt to pay online. While there, consider the option of auto renewal so you don’t have to worry about next year’s payment at that time.
