The Viper allows and encourages hiking. But you cannot 'droop hike' on a Viper. The wide rounded tanks are simply too wide. With feet in the hiking straps, the calves and thighs are supported by the tanks and the edge of your butt sits on the angled lip of the gunwale. Once you accept that some hiking is part and parcel of the fun of small sport boats, then the design objective was to make it as comfortable as possible.
