As we announced earlier this year, the Viper 640 class approved the production of new tooling that would allow for the construction of a second set of Viper molds -- one in the UK, and one in the U.S. Those molds arrived in the U.S. a few weeks ago, and the production staff at Rondar Raceboats USA has been hard at work preparing to build the first Vipers at the shop in Peabody, Massachusetts. They have received the master hull and deck plugs from the UK shop, along with all of the sub-component molds. The deck mold is in process, the plug has been prepared, the gelcoat is on and the layup of the deck mold is beginning. The hull plug is being prepared for gelcoat currently.
Provided all goes according to plan, we expect Ben Parker and Paul Zimmerman to be sailing the first U.S.-built Rondar Viper at the Viper North Americans Sept. 6-9 alongside 50 other Vipers.
