About UsThe Class association is a group of avid Viper owners and equally devout Viper crew. We share useful tips on the boat and help each other and prospective Viper sailors get out on the water. The Class Association was relaunched in 2004 in Marblehead when a small group of Viperers met at the upstairs bar in Maddies Sail Loft. Since thenThe Class has grown to represent close to 150 owners and over a hundred crew. The participation in the 2009 North American Championships was 36 boats up from 26 boats in 2008, up from 18 in 2007, up from 13 in 2006. Our goal is to see 50 Vipers on a start line in 2012. in 2005, the Class Association and the Designer agreed that Rondar should be appointed as the class builder and that the Class should be responsible for approving all future class builders. Rondar subsequently agreed to sell the molds to the Class Association, creating a Class that is truly controlled by its members. The Viper Class Association is run by its members for its members. The class remains proud of its grass roots origins, serving its sailors interests above all others. The first new Rondar boat arrived stateside in October 2006. Rondar has sold over 100 boats and the total number of boats in North America US has grown to over 170. In addition to the fleet in Marblehead, there are Vipers and Viper fleets in Canada, Arizona,California, Georgia, North and South Carolina, Florida, New Jersey, Long Island Sound, Rhode Island, Texas, and the Pacific North West. Join the Class Association.Your class dues help the Class Association, promote the Viper class, support Viper owners and organize Viper racing. Your Class Association is a member of US Sailing, it maintains and develops this website, publishes and mails newsletters, organizes and promotes class regattas and class rendezvous, obtains class insurance and other services, maintains adherence to class One-Design standards, assists with obtaining PHRF and Portsmouth handicap ratings and will do anything else that it can for members, Viper owners and Viper crew. 2012 Membership continues at $40. Class membership is voluntary and is open to anyone associated with Vipers. Both Owners and Crew can become full members of the Class Association although there is only one vote per boat for elections and rule changes. Registered class members gain access to the restricted portion of the website. We will send newsletters and information to any Viper owner who contacts the class. The Viper Class Association places a strong emphasis in recognizing the teamwork essential to sail in Vipers and the importance of crew. Owner members can register their crew for newsletters and access to the website for no additional dues. Crew can choose to become full members of the Class Association. Please join the Class Association! Owners can send the same information for any crew that they wish to nominate for Class Association membership.
