Viper 640 2010 Texas Championship Series

Invitation
You are cordially invited to participate in the United States Viper 640 2010 Texas
Championship Series to be held from May, 2010 through October, 2010. Each series
stop will be held in conjunction with a local regatta and as such the local affiliated racing
club is the organizer and host, respectively.

Rules
This series of regattas will be governed by the 2009-2010 Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS)
as published by the International Sailing Federation (ISAF). However, if in conflict any
rules dictated by the host regatta organizers will take precedence over the aforementioned
ISAF rules. The respective protest committees shall have authority on all matters.

Eligibility
The Viper 640 2010 Texas Championship Series is open to all Viper 640 yachts as
defined by the Viper 640 Class Association. Competitors are not required to hold a class
membership in order to become participants. Each Yacht however shall have updated
class legal keel ballast. Both carbon and aluminum masts will be eligible for
participation.

Schedule
Three scheduled regattas compromise the 2010 Viper 640 Texas Circuit

• May 15-16, 2010 Lakewood Yacht Club Shoe Regatta, Galveston Bay
• June 5-6, 2010 Fort Worth Boat Club Annual / Heineken Regatta, Eagle Mountain Lake
• October 2-3, 2010 Austin Yacht Club Governors Cup, Lake Travis

Racing
Quantity and schedule of races shall be dictated by the regatta organizers. Courses will
also be at the organizing club’s discretion. Windward / Leeward courses and a minimum
of five total races are preferred; these recommendations will be made by a representative
of the Viper 640 Texas fleet on behalf of participants.

Scoring
Boats by hull number will be scored in each regatta and carry its results forward in the
Championship series. For each regatta that a boat does not compete they shall carry a
score equal to the number of competitors plus 1.

Prizes
An award will be presented to the first and second place finisher of the three-series
circuit. A “Viper 640 Spirit” award may also be given out at this final event. These
awards will be presented at the final event at the Austin Yacht Club
